Raging Princesses

So apparently, instead of the two little girls I thought I had, I actually gave birth to a pair of Neanderthals!

For Father’s Day, my husband got a PS3 (yes he practically danced all the way home from the store). As I’m sure you can imagine, my daughters have been every bit as excited about it as he is. It’s still new and exciting so every day I’m fielding disputes between one little urchin and the other over which game to play or whose turn it is. Luckily for Daddy, he’s bigger so he wins. :P

This afternoon, right before I’m ready to start dinner, Morgan comes in and asks me if she can play games for a while. Abby’s right behind her, piping out “Hamstuh Ball Dame! Hamstuh Ball Dame!” Morgan stops in mid-question and shouts “NO!! I want to play SPYRO!” and so it begins. At this point, I’m setting it up, listening to the squeals get louder and louder until I feel like I’m standing in a piglet pen. If you’ve ever heard an angry piglet, then you know what I mean.

We’ve been trying to encourage the girls to settle disputes in acceptable ways so I calmly reach over with the remote and snap the television off. “Ok, well, when you two can agree on a game, I’ll turn it back on.” With that, I march back to the kitchen to continue fixing dinner.

The next thing I know those two are in there having a knock-down, drag-out, full-on FIGHT. I mean, one’s got her hands around the other’s neck, the other’s yanking on her sister’s hair- it was insanity! I thought I had little princesses! What on EARTH?!

The most amusing thing about this is that it would be MY husband’s children that are beating each other up over a freaking video game. Yup. Those are HIS genes peeking out, there, folks. ALL HIS.

All my kids traits that are unseemingly manly are definitly from my husband!!

Whenever there’s a fight over the computers or games in general, I blame him. :)

Ah, this brings me back to my own childhood (though, I should probably point out that my brother and I no longer speak to each other!)

Oh no! Hopefully these two will be friends for life. Though my sister no longer speaks to me and my brothers and I have unique relationships, so I know how that can go. :(

I was going to take my oldest out alone tomorrow to see a movie and she broke down in tears and refused to go unless I took her little sister as well. So I’m hopeful. Apparently all is forgiven, now, lol.
